Mining structural MRI data in Epilepsy.
BrainDrugs is a 5-year thematic alliance within precision medicine in epilepsy and depression, funded by the Lundbeck Foundation for PI Gitte Moos Knudsen. The total budget for the whole center is 40 mio DKK, of which approximately 2.5 mio DKK finances WP5 – Mining neuroimaging data – for which I am responsible. The BrainDrugs consortium brings together a multidisciplinary team of investigators from the Capital Region, Aarhus and the specialized epilepsy hospital Filadelfia, assisted by two international experts in the field.
Within WP5, we develop transparent predictive computer-based models to help identify structural MRI abnormalities in epileptic patients. This includes establishing a text-mining model to automatically label radiology reports, as well as comparing MRI features identified by our deep-learning image-based model with the outcomes of existing task-specific methods in epilepsy research.
